Suspects arrested in Troy Quadruple homicide plead not guilty to murder charges

Captain Dan DeWolf of the city's police department called the murders "horrific", adding that "it's frightful, terrible, sad".

A property manager, who had received a call asking him to check on the tenants, entered the apartment and found two women and two children, all unresponsive.

"The Troy Police Department is releasing these photos not only for the media but to further appeal to the public for any information regarding this horrific case", Capt. Dan DeWolf of the Troy Police Department said in a statement.

"After being in this business for almost 42 years, I can say I have not seen savagery like this", Police Chief John Tedesco said in a news conference Wednesday afternoon. But no one involved in this case is ever going to forget it.

The 11-year-old victim played basketball in a community league, according to the Troy Record. She says she last spoke with her sister last week.

"It feels like somebody has ripped us to shreds", Symes told the Albany newspaper.

Shakera Symes, Shanta's sister, teared up as she said that the murdered mother "was supposed to be with me and her children, all three of them, for Christmas, and I got robbed of that".

"I mean, there was no telling that girl what to do!" "I'm not sure if they're coming for me next".

Troy Police Chief John Tedesco said the deaths - which are being treated as a quadruple homicide - were the most savage he had seen in more than four decades in the force. Police said autopsies would be conducted Wednesday, but results have not been released.

Troy is about 10 miles from the state capital, Albany, and about 160 miles north of New York City.

Brandi Mells, 22; ans Stana Myers, 36, were found dead on Tues., Dec. 26, 2017 in their basement apartment in Troy, New York.

Jackie Robinson Sr., a pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Troy, told the Times Union that there are "certainly reasons to be fearful". "Until we find out, it certainly makes sense to be vigilant and keep your doors locked".

The childrens' uncle, Khalif Coleman, said 5-year-old Shanise was unusually mature for her age.
