Hoosiers have a chance to win a fortune this weekend in the lottery.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions drawing Friday was raised to $450 million, with a cash option of $281.2 million, the Maryland Lottery announced.

That means that one ticket-holder (there could be more than one winner) will get more than $400 million if he or she had the right numbers. Winners also have the option to receive a lump sum of winnings, which offers less money at $347.9 million.

The likelihood of winning either of these jackpots is close to 1-in-300 million and the likelihood of winning both the jackpots, totaling more than $1.2 billion, is 1-in-88-quadrillion. He believes this is due to the recent cold weather, and the fact people tend to typically spend more on the lottery during the holidays.

"One goes way up, and somebody wins it, and it starts over, and then the other jackpot goes up", he said.
