Jesse Lingard Leads Manchester United to FA Cup Win vs. Derby County

When you look at the name Jesse Lingard on the Manchester United roster, next to guys like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, he's just an afterthought.

Scott Carson then dealt comfortably with a Pogba drive from the edge of the box before Ander Herrera headed wide from close range from a Marcus Rashford free-kick. Sam Winnall then dragged one wide of the United post just before the half-hour mark as the visitors started to enjoy themselves.

Pogba dominated the midfield in the early stages and he teed up Lingard to fire over the top from 10 yards in just the third minute.

Both attempts, which came in the final six minutes, were highlight-worthy goals in the first FA Cup tie involving United in 13 years not to be televised live.

Tom Lawrence almost sent Derby ahead two minutes before the hour with a thumping shot from just outside the box but Sergio Romero made a brilliant save at the bottom corner.

Rashford headed against the Derby post in the 34th minute, before heading straight at Carson three minutes later as the score somehow stayed goalless.

Pogba came close to breaking the deadlock eight minutes into the second half after finding space in the centre of the box but somehow missed the target with a right footed shot.

United also got good news regarding Romelu Lukaku, as the Belgian worldwide will be fit and available to play after suffering a scary blow to the head against Southampton on December 30.

The Red Devils hit the woodwork again minutes later from Romelu Lukaku's header, but a goal wouldn't have counted anyway as the big Belgian was ruled offside.

Not to be outdone, Lukaku then played a good give-and-go with Anthony Martial before tucking his shot under the advancing Carson to secure United's passage to the FA Cup fourth round.
