Teacher handcuffed at school board meeting after bringing up salary

Fontana, the board president, told NBC News that Hargrave had violated meeting policies, by taking up extra time and asking questions during a public comment section.

Deyshia Hargrave, an English dialects expressions educator at Rene Rost Middle Schools in Kaplan, stood up to class load up individuals amid general society remarks segment of the gathering and was escorted out the second time she moved toward the platform - bringing about a fight in the passage.

"You need to leave, or I'm going to remove you", the unidentified marshal says on the video.

Teacher Deyshia Hargrave spoke up during public comment and said, "You're making our jobs more hard".

"A superintendent or any person in a position of leadership getting any type of raise, I feel like it's a slap in the face to all the teachers, cafeteria workers, and any other support staff we have", Ms Hargrave noted.

'We work very hard with very little to maintain the salaries we have. It has directed all questions concerning the incident to the Vermilion Parish School Board.

No charges were filed against Hargrave.

'Sir, I am way smaller than you' she cries as he pushes her out the door of the building. After posing another question, an Abbeville city marshal on duty at the meeting grabbed Hargrave and removed her from the meeting.

A TV news camera crew captured the moment a teacher from Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, was arrested during a school board meeting Monday night, and multiple recordings of the incident have spread quickly on social media.

The National Education Association reported that Louisiana saw the largest decrease in average public school teacher salary between 2014 and 2015, with the average salary for the 2015-2016 school year coming out to approximately $47,000. City Prosecutor Ike Funderburk told KATC that the School System officials had called him this morning to reiterate that the system wasn't interested in pursuing charges.

Also responding was the ACLU of Louisiana which also released a statement on the Vermilion Parish teachers arrest. It is every citizen's right to speak up for their beliefs'. She was later removed in handcuffs.

"Deyshia Hargrave's expulsion from a public meeting and subsequent arrest are unacceptable and raise serious constitutional concerns".

It is unclear whether the marshal acted on board members' orders or his own accord, according to KATC.
