There is no way around it, Camila Cabello's "Havana" is a hit. Two days before the drop of her first solo album 'Camila, ' the singer performed her new single "Never Be The Same" last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "I think there's a healthy amount of space you need to give certain things", she said of her months-long silence. Plus, Camila tells Access why her song "Real Friends" isn't about her former bandmates.

"It became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time", Cabello said.

Cabello's debut album, Camila releases on January 12.

"I'd just say congratulations", the British rock icon shared of what he would say to Camila if they ever met.

Camila Cabello's butterflies

Amusing thing, though. As she worked on the album past year, buoyed by the success of her collaborations "Bad Things" with Machine Gun Kelly and then "Havana" with Young Thug, the questions didn't seem important any more.

Camila opened up about how that shady moment made her feel in a new interview with the New York Times. (Any correlation to real people or events is undoubtedly coincidental.) As a listener, you may be grateful for those future growth markers, but also glad for tracks as unpretentiously chipper as "Into It", the saucy one of the bunch, or "Never Be the Same", which has been set as the next single.

A peer most astutely compared Camila with Rihanna's untamed masterpiece ANTI, only on training wheels: Sure, she hits a few bumps without the added support of Fifth Harmony, but Cabello will confidently be riding solo in no time.

Fifth Harmony has continued as a quartet and released their self-titled third album past year. "I don't like holding onto the past, especially when it's stuff that, in my opinion, is just petty". It'd be interesting to hear that version of an album that's clearly been through a lot of tinkering and sequencing, especially if some of what got chucked was more autobiographical about her recent career turns. I felt way happier.
