After an initial misunderstanding, Arsenal have been made aware that Valencia are expecting to be paid to remove Francis Coquelin from the Emirates Stadium.

Thierry Henry looked absolutely stunned when informed of the news that Francis Coquelin is on the verge of completing a big-money move from Arsenal to Valencia.

RMC Sport has reported the length of contract to be four-and-a-half years while the reported fee is in the region of €10m.

Speaking about Coquelin's move, he told Sky Sports: 'I'm happy for him because he's going to go to a team that is challenging at the minute in a very hard league to win. I have watched their recent games, since I knew that the negotiations between the two clubs were picking up, such as the Copa del Rey game versus Las Palmas.

Coquelin spoke to former Arsenal team-mates Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin and Santi Cazorla about the move.

"I believe that the players are doing a great job".

Asked by Sky Sports after Arsenal drew 0-0 at Chelsea if Coquelin was about to leave Arsenal, Wenger replied: "Yes".

Coquelin had been linked to the La Liga side before the January transfer window opened after making only one Premier League appearance for Arsenal this season.

The 20-year-old has largely been used as a left-back by Wenger this season due to injuries but he thinks this will stand him in good stead in a defensive midfield role.
