Neymar scored four goals, created another two, and completed seven dizzying dribbles, yet the £200 million player's pitch flawless performance was still booed by the club's fans at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.

It took Angel Di Maria only four minutes to light the touchpaper on a totally one-sided match in the capital and with 15 minutes gone the Argentinian had doubled PSG's lead.

A brilliant free kick from the record signing made it 4-0 just before half-time.

Dijon initially showed more fight after the interval, Kwon Chang-Hoon bending a shot wide of the post, before Reynet made his first save, sticking out his right boot to block Neymar's shot. He struck again in the 73rd minute, dribbling from almost midfield before coasting into the box and placing a grounder into the near post past Reynet.

Despite his heroics, the team's supporters jeered Neymar when he stepped up to take a penalty in the 83rd minute. It wasn't a pleasant surprise for the main man when he was subjected to boos by the club fans during their comfortable 8-0 win against Dijon in the Ligue 1.

Despite the Paris crowd screaming for Cavani to have his moment, Neymar pulled rank and converted the penalty himself to grab his fourth goal of the night.

Cavani bagged his 156th goal in all competitions for PSG, matching the club record of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played for the club from 2012-16.

The former Barcelona player, who also set up two goals, was booed when he took the penalty as Cavani would have broken the club scoring record had he taken and converted it.

But BT Sport's French football expert Julian Laurens said the negative reaction will have "upset" the player.

PSG's 11th win out of 11 home Ligue 1 games this season saw Neymar at his mesmeric best, although Unai Emery's side rarely needed to get out of third gear against desperately poor opposition, despite Kylian Mbappe having been left on the bench.
